A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the APC South East Integrity Movement, has called on Governor Hope Uzodimma to explain why the local government elections in Imo State have been postponed indefinitely.
The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ImSIEC) had announced that the council elections fixed for Saturday, November 7, 2026, will no longer hold. The commission said it made the decision after wide consultations.
The group says the postponement raises questions, especially as arrangements for the exercise had reportedly been completed. It wants the governor to tell Imo people the reason behind the move and give a clear way forward.
The commission had earlier asked political parties to sign a peace accord and promised to work with security agencies to protect the process. No new date has been announced yet.
