SOLUDO GOVT MAKES U-TURN, SAYS PETER OBI DID WELL AS GOVERNOR

Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Law Mefor, has acknowledged the performance of Peter Obi as governor.

Mefor spoke on Thursday during an interview on the 90MinutesAfrica podcast, hosted by Rudolf Okonkwo.

He said the scrutiny of Obi’s financial records by the state government was not aimed at undermining his achievements or presidential ambition, noting that the disagreement centred on the former governor’s claim that he left no financial liabilities for successive administrations.

According to him, the objective of the state government is to clarify its financial records by disputing Obi’s claim that he left no financial liabilities for subsequent administrations.

The commissioner questioned Obi’s claim that his administration left N12.13 billion in an ecological fund account with First Bank’s University of Nigeria, Awka (UNIZIK), branch.

He reiterated that the state government requested the relevant account statement from the bank but found no evidence of the claimed balance.

“The intention of the Anambra State government is not to indict Peter Obi. Peter Obi did well as governor.

“There is no rift between Governor Soludo and Peter Obi. They are both in politics, and they have their interests to defend,” Mefor said.
