Daniel Bwala happy with Ojy Okpe’s
interview with the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi.

Bwala, in a post on X, described Okpe as the only “Obidient” he knows who dares to remain objective, while commending her for asking Obi tough questions during the interview.

The former Anambra State governor featured in an exclusive interview on Arise News on Thursday, where he was questioned on several issues, including the possibility of stepping down for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to facilitate an opposition alliance ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Reacting to the interview, Bwala said Okpe, despite coming from the fashion industry rather than journalism, had performed better than many trained journalists in holding the NDC candidate to account.

He wrote: “@OjyOkpe is the only Obidient that I have known who dares to be objective. Coming from proven fashion world, yet doing better than many trained journalists. She truly tried to hold @PeterObi to account.”

Bwala also expressed hope that Okpe’s approach would serve as a lesson to what he described as the “militant Obidient” on the morning show.

“I hope it’s a lesson for the militant Obidient on that morning show,” he added.

During the interview, Obi said the question of whether he would step down for Atiku was no longer a decision he could make alone, arguing that the issue had moved beyond individual candidates to the leadership of their respective political parties.

Obi said he was now the presidential candidate of the NDC, just as Atiku is a presidential candidate of another political party, stressing that both parties have their own leadership structures.

“The conversation of who will step down for who has gone beyond individual. It now resides with the party leaders,” Obi said.

He also reiterated his desire for a Nigeria where, in his words, “the child of nobody will become somebody without knowing anybody.”
