Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has declared that he harbours no resentment towards any politician in Benue State, urging political stakeholders to put aside their differences and unite ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Akume made the appeal on Tuesday in Abuja while hosting leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the three senatorial districts of Benue State.

The delegation, led by former Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Emmanuel Jime, included several prominent party leaders and former loyalists of Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Extending what he described as an olive branch to political leaders across the state, the former Benue governor said unity is essential to restoring the state’s political and economic fortunes and ensuring victory for President Bola Tinubu in the next presidential election.

He assured the delegation that his leadership would continue to prioritise the interests of Benue people, stressing that he holds no grudge against any politician despite recent political developments in the state.

Akume also urged continued support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the Federal Government had provided states with adequate financial resources to drive development.

“I know that the President in a most unprecedented manner, has pushed a lot of money to the states and the local governments. All the tiers of government have access to the Federation Account. If we can’t develop our state, it’s not a fault of Mr. President. He is doing what he is supposed to do for the country and for the states, and Benue is no exception,” he said.
