Fresh controversy trailed reports that Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, had been removed as chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, with the forum dismissing the claim as false and misleading.
The PGF, in a statement issued on Thursday by its Director General, Folorunso Aluko, said no meeting was held where such a decision was taken and insisted that Uzodimma remains chairman of the forum. The group also stated that its secretariat had no record of any resolution removing the Imo governor.
“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating in some media platforms alleging the removal of its Chairman, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON,” the statement read.
It added, “For the avoidance of doubt, the Progressive Governors Forum states categorically that the report is entirely false, baseless, and without an iota of truth.”
The forum further urged the public, party members and the media to disregard the report, maintaining that the body remained united and focused on its responsibilities.
