WHY I NO LONGER SPEAK WITH ATIKU

OIP 39 1

Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has revealed why he no longer maintains a relationship with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, shedding light on a long-standing political rift between the two figures.

Amaechi made the disclosure during a recent media interaction, where he addressed questions about his past political associations and current stance within Nigeria’s political space. According to him, the breakdown in communication between both men stems from differences in political interests and personal convictions.

He explained that while they once shared political alignment, circumstances over time led to a divergence in their paths. Amaechi emphasized that politics often involves shifting alliances, and not all relationships survive those changes.

The former Rivers State governor noted that he prefers to maintain clarity in his political engagements, adding that he does not see the need to sustain relationships that no longer align with his principles or objectives.

Amaechi’s comments have sparked renewed attention to the dynamics among Nigeria’s political elite, particularly as discussions around future elections and possible alliances continue to gain momentum.

Both Amaechi and Atiku have played significant roles in Nigeria’s political landscape over the years, at different times finding themselves on similar and opposing sides of the political divide. Their evolving relationship reflects the fluid nature of political affiliations in the country.

Observers say such revelations are not unusual, as prominent politicians often reassess alliances based on changing strategies and interests. However, public confirmation of strained ties between high-profile figures tends to generate interest, especially among party supporters and political analysts.

Amaechi did not indicate any immediate plans to reconcile with Atiku, suggesting that their relationship remains distant for now. Meanwhile, Atiku has not publicly responded to the remarks.

The development comes amid broader conversations about political positioning ahead of future electoral cycles, with stakeholders closely watching signals from influential figures across party lines.
