IPOB INSURGENCY: ‘ARMY GENERAL’ RETURNS HOME TO ANAMBRA COMMUNITY AFTER SIX YEARS

OIP 53 1

A man said to be an army general, whose name was simply given as General Azike, from Lilu community in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, has returned home for the first time in six years, as a result of activities of criminals posing at Biafra agitators.

In a video posted online, indigenes of Lilu community were seen rejoicing over the return of the general, while calling on other indigenes who were away to come home as their community is now free.

Lilu was one of the communities in Anambra that was held hostage by criminals posing as members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, who were agitating for secession.

In the video posted on social media, the general was seen alongside the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Godson Onyediri, rejoicing over their new found freedom.

The monarch welcomed the general and also praised Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who he said made it possible for the liberation of the community and other troubled places in the state.

In a separate video, the general was seen visiting his compound, a large and expansive mansion which was visibly overgrown by grasses as a result of long years of abandonment occasioned by his absence.

While some parts of the building showed visible signs of dilapidation, bullet marks were also seen on the walls of the house.

DAILY POST was however unable to ascertain the full identity of the man, but locals who were sighted in the trending video kept addressing him as a general.

Many indigenes of Lilu had for five years fled the community, including the traditional ruler, whose house was once attacked.

Recently, however, the Anambra State government, working in concert with security agencies, had launched attacks on the elements, rescuing the communities from the criminals.
