A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that it plans to support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Politics Nigeria reports that the group made its position clear on Monday. It said the party remains focused on presenting its own candidate for the presidency.

The statement comes amid growing speculation about possible alliances ahead of the next election cycle.

The National Publicity Secretary of the faction, Jungudo Mohammed, spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief. He denied reports linking the PDP bloc to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We are not supporting President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for 2027 general election. We will do everything to field own candidate.

“And I am appealing to Nigerians to please give us little time between now and the time we will conduct our primaries.

“All these rumours about we are supporting APC or appendage of the APC will come to pass.

“Time will take care of all these rumours and propaganda. It is aimed at either discrediting the PDP or discrediting the Honorable Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike,” he said.

Mohammed stressed that the party structure is still intact despite internal disagreements. He said the PDP remains one of the strongest political platforms in the country.

Moreover, He also urged members and supporters to stay patient as the party prepares for its primaries.
