Fout soldiers are feared dead and others injured after fighters from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacked a military base in Ngamdu, Borno State, early Friday morning.

Reports said the terrorists stormed the Ngamdu military camp around 2 a.m. and began shooting at soldiers on duty.

Following the attack, the military reportedly sealed off the Maiduguri–Damaturu highway, leaving many travelers and motorists stranded.

The insurgents reportedly carried out a late-night assault on the Ngamdu military camp, causing casualties among the troops.

Some of the injured soldiers have been taken by ambulance to the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu for treatment.
