BREAKING: FIRST ABIA STATE GOVERNOR, OGBONNAYA ONU, IS DEAD In a shocking turn of events, the first civilian Governor of Abia State, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, is dead. Following an agreement between the APP and the Alliance for Democracy (AD), to field a single Presidential Candidate, Ogbonnaya Onu stepped down for Chief Olu Falae whò ran on the ticket of AD. Ogbonnaya Onu served as Minister under the government of President Muhammadu Buhari. His tenure as Minister witnessed significant strides in the fields of science, technology, and innovation. Having been appointed by President Buhari, Dr. Onu played a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s policies and advancements in the realm of science and technology.His contributions have left a lasting impact on the nation.

This development was disclosed by renowned Nigerian journalist Rufai Oseni in a post on his social media handle on Thursday. He claimed that the anti-draft agency is expected to make an official announcement soon. Recall that President Bola Tinubu suspended Edu following allegations of her involvement in a N585 million fraud. BREAKING: PHILIP SHAIBU EDO DEPUTY GOVERNOR IMPEACHED The Edo State House of Assembly, on Monday, impeached the state’s Deputy governor, Philip Shaibu. The impeachment followed the adoption of the report of the seven-man investigative panel set up by the Assembly to probe allegations of misconduct against Shaibu. The Justice S.A. Omonua-led seven-man panel investigating the impeachment petition against Shaibu rounded off its sitting on Friday. The panel was constituted by the Chief Judge of Edo State, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, on March 22, 2024, in line with the resolution of the State House of Assembly to investigate the impeachment petition against the deputy governor which bothered on allegations of gross misconduct and perjury. Other members of the panel were Professor Theresa Akpoghome, Oghogho Ayodele Oviasu, Surveyor Andrew Oliha, Idris Abdulkareen, President Aigbokhian and Mariam Erakhoba Ilavbare.
