Human rights activist and national coordinator of the Tinubu Must Go movement, Abba Hikima, has announced the withdrawal of his planned support for some All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants, accusing them of celebrating the alleged oppression of citizens and supporting leaders he described as oppressive.

Hikima made the announcement in a statement published on his Facebook page on Monday, saying his decision followed his observation of the aspirants’ attitudes towards the alleged mistreatment of members of the public.

“I hereby announce the withdrawal of all the support I had planned to give to some APC aspirants. This follows the happiness I noticed in them over the oppression of people from above and their support for oppressors,” he said.

He further declared that anyone who supports leaders accused of oppressing the people should be held accountable for such actions.

Hikima had previously declared support for Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf despite being an APC member, a development that had drawn attention to the movement’s political position.

His latest statement, however, signals a shift in his position towards some APC aspirants, although he did not identify those affected by the decision.

The announcement comes amid an earlier disagreement between the Tinubu Must Go movement and the Kano State Police Command over a planned gathering by the group in Kano.

The movement had accused the police of preventing it from holding the event after officers were deployed to the venue.

The police, however, denied the allegation, explaining that their presence was intended to provide security for participants at the gathering.
