Nigerians have backed Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi after he declared that no group has a monopoly on “rascality”, vowing to campaign across every state in the country regardless of the consequences.
Obi made the remarks during a live appearance on The Emir Sirdam Show, where he insisted that nobody would stop him from reaching Nigerians across the country ahead of the 2027 general election.
“I will be everywhere. I will go to every state in Nigeria, no matter the consequence,” Obi said, maintaining that he would not be intimidated from exercising his democratic rights.
The former Anambra State governor said he did not believe in name-calling in politics but recalled how Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) figures criticised former Nigerian leaders, including Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, before the party came to power in 2015.
Obi argued that those criticisms were made under a democratic system that allowed opposition figures to express their views, insisting that he should equally be allowed to campaign freely across Nigeria without intimidation or obstruction.
His remarks have drawn support from Nigerians who insist that the country belongs to all citizens and should not be treated as the exclusive preserve of Tinubu or the ruling APC.
“Nigeria is not for Tinubu and his crooks alone,” supporters said, insisting that opposition politicians and their supporters must be allowed to participate freely in political activities across the country.
Obi’s declaration that no group has a monopoly on “rascality” was also interpreted by supporters as a warning against any attempt to intimidate him, members of the NDC or those backing his presidential ambition with Nigerians declaring support for the former Anambra state Governor.
