WHY IS APC CAMPAIGNING FOR THE MAN IT FEARS MOST? – PETER OBI

Like a hunter who enters the bush to hunt an elephant but spends the whole day chasing a cricket chirping in his ear, so has the APC abandoned its elephantine responsibilities and turned its entire campaign arsenal against one man — Peter Obi.

As William Shakespeare warned in Macbeth: “It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” That is what APC’s campaign has become.

My greatest problem with the Presidency, the APC leadership, its members and its sycophants is this: the APC regime has abandoned issue-based campaign. A government that ought to showcase its stewardship, its programs, its future agenda for Nigeria has instead turned its campaign into a daily referendum on Peter Obi.

It is a very rare and strange illness.

Instead of concentrating on its manifesto and promoting its presidential candidate, PBAT, they are busy campaigning for Peter Obi, erroneously believing they are de-marketing him. Every press statement is Peter Obi. Every TV appearance is Peter Obi. Every tweet from a presidential handler is Peter Obi.

And APC has refused to ask one pertinent question:

“Who is actually campaigning for who?”

The presidential candidacy of Peter Obi has become the living nightmare of Mr. Nyesom Wike, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Engr Dave Umahi, the APC presidency, and its hardened sycophants.

Whosoever is handling the campaign for PBAT should be more concerned about APC and its candidates, and stop this unnecessary propaganda and tantrums against Peter Obi. We have more than 16 other presidential candidates vying for 2027.

Why is only one name on their lips?

As our elders will say: “When you mention a man’s name seven times before breakfast, you have already made him your prayer point.”

APC, if you have governed well, campaign with your governance scorecards. If you have no tangible improvement to show, be honest and flood social media with what you have done.

You have overwhelming tourism escapes of PBAT in Paris, London, Dubai, Turkey. Campaign with them. Show us the miles that he has covered.

Tell Nigerians why the INEC Chairman should come to the airport to welcome PBAT – a man who is supposed to be neutral and under a national priority assignment.

You have unending loan acquisitions in billions of dollars borrowed. Campaign with them. Show us the receipts and the expenditure details.

Fuel is now N1,500 per litre in certain parts of the nation, campaign with that.

Tell us how you moved it from N195 to N1,500 and call it progress.

A bag of rice moved from N18,000 to N80,000, campaign with that and tell us that it is your Renewed Hope dividend.

Tell the market woman that her suffering is mere statistics.

Tell Nigerians why our debt profile has jumped from about ₦89tn in 2023 to N166.79tn in 2026, with 141m (62%) Nigerians under the poverty index, and today, we have over 139m Nigerians who cannot afford 3 square meals in a day. I think that this will make the headlines on PBAT’s campaign billboards.

You have more than 30 sitting Governors in your pocket, a National Assembly that says ‘yes’ before you even ask, and courts that many Nigerians now perceive as the judicial department of the ruling party.

These are your governance realities, campaign with them.

Tell us how you conquered the states not with ideas but with intimidation.

Tell us how you conquered the parliament not with debate but with SUVs and padded budgets.

Tell Nigerians how a State of Emergency was declared in Rivers State even before the National Assembly raised their gavel.

Tell us how that move benefited Rivers people, rather, it created the godfatherist in Wike.

Tell us how the imposition of a retired military officer in a civilian regime developed the economy of Rivers State.

Tell us how Wike himself publicly claimed to have manipulated South-South results in 2023 in favour of PBAT, and till date no security agency has invited him to clarify such weighty claim that touches on our electoral integrity.

Tell Nigerians how Yaya Bello managed to earn your senatoral slot after being hunted by EFCC, and his billions of Naira case still in court.

Tell Nigerians why PBAT has refused to pay a state visit to any of our states since assuming office in 2023, but proudly gallivants abroad without a hoot about our national priorities.

APC, the above are my freewill advice, use such templates to campaign, and if possible, create a “Tinubites Movement,” because as it stands, the City Boys Movement’s composition is grown men and women behaving like boys.

Socrates aptly captured the truth about our own “City Boys”, when he said that, “a society begins to decline when children are no longer allowed to be children.”

Furthermore, on the issue of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, tell Nigerians howp you awarded the contract without due process, how you destroyed livelihoods, including a tourism centre valued at over $10m.

Tell Nigerians how the project was embarked upon without a proper Environmental Impact Assessment, and as such, some completed sections are already at the mercy of erosion.

Corruption, insecurity, inequality and impunity are good examples of APC’s dividends of democracy.

Tell Nigerians why kidnappers, bandits and terrorists are still being pampered and in most cases, are paid ransom without any arrests.

Can this confirm the Agenda Papers Report of 8th

Why hide them?

Put them on a billboard at the newly rehabilitated Niger Bridge.

Campaign on the facts that under your watch, corruption was not fought but rebranded. Insecurity was not defeated but franchised.

Inequality was not reduced but institutionalized. Impunity was not punished but promoted.

As the Igbo will say: “When a man says his anus is clean, the flies will give a thorough testimony.”

APC wants Nigerians to reject the hunger in their bellies and believe the propaganda about Peter Obi.

Spiritually, what APC is doing is obsession. It is no longer politics, it is torment. When a man who claims to have won an election still wakes up every morning to fight the man he claims to have defeated, that man has not won.

He is being haunted.

Peter Obi has become the ghost APC sees in the mirror. You claim you defeated him in 2023, yet you debate about him in 2025, 2026, and now want to use him to win 2027 through propaganda and lies.

Who is deceiving who?

As Wole Soyinka said: “The man dies in all who keep silent in the face of tyranny.” Nigerians have refused to keep silent, hence APC’s obsession to silence the only voice of the oppressed.

Psychologically, APC knows Nigerians are angry. Hunger is real. The naira is on its knees. Their presidential candidate struggles to connect. So they need a distraction, a lightning rod to absorb national anger. They have chosen Peter Obi and the Obidient Movement.

But Nigerians are wiser. The more you mention him, the more you market him. If you think you are de-marketing him, you are deifying him. Every insult becomes a badge, because the people know if he was irrelevant, you would not be so relevantly obsessed.

You cannot abuse a man into irrelevance. You only crown him as the issue.

Rhetorically, let me ask APC: Where is your scorecard? What will you tell your children you did with power? That you fought Peter Obi as your manifesto? Is that governance?

If Peter Obi did not exist, what would you campaign with?

Compel PBAT to face Nigerians on a live media chat. Let Nigerians compare notes between him and other candidates. Because right now, your entire campaign is “Peter Obi did this, Obidients are that.”

On October 1st, we witnessed a king who climbed the rooftop on Independence Day to address his kingdom, only to discover that the marketplace had emptied, the streets were silent, and even the palace guards were pretending to hear. He spoke, but nobody listened. He broadcasted, but nobody was interested.

The nation had tuned off.

And yet, the same principal who cannot command attention, commands an army of lazy data boys to do one job: publicize Peter Obi.

Peter Obi gives interviews every week. And you are the one who publicizes it. You post a thousand videos of his interviews yourself, while you cannot post one single inspiring clip of your own principal.

At the rate Obi grants interviews, one would think that Nigerians would be tired.

But no. Next week, his next chat is on the front-page, viral, trending, discussed in buses, barbershops and boardrooms.

That alone should tell APC something, if it still make the attempt to think.

The comedy is clear. Peter Obi gives an interview, your propaganda unit edits it, cutting sentences and joining them to portray what he never said.

These intellectual fraudsters repeat this deception whenever he speaks, exposing lack of creativity. As Achebe warned: “When a man has sold his conscience for a pot of porridge, he will defend the buyer even if the porridge is sour.”

Then jobless recruited mercenaries (mainly the youths) take that hollowness and share it in an erratic, feverish frenzy. A tale of, “where gorillas lead, chimpanzees sheepishly follow.”

That is the hierarchy of APC jungle campaign idealogy.

This is fixation, not politics. A government that has lost legitimacy must manufacture a distraction. Peter Obi has become APC’s distraction.

The truth you do not see: Indirectly, APC is doing the real campaign for Peter Obi. Every attack advertises him. Every insult amplifies him. Every lie reminds Nigerians why they seek an alternative.

That is not a campaign; it is a confession of emptiness.

As Maya Angelou said: “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” APC has shown that it has no campaign message except Peter Obi.

Metaphorically, APC is like a housewife asked to cook for her husband, but instead of cooking, she spends the whole day gossiping about her neighbor’s kitchen. The husband will still be hungry at night.

Nigeria is hungry, and you are gossiping about Peter Obi.

Emotionally, Nigerians are tired. From the Villa to the wards, from presidential spokesmen to data boys paid N20,000 to insult people online — it is Peter Obi, Peter Obi, Peter Obi.

As Yoruba elders will say: “If you beat an innocent child for too long, you will realize you are the one crying.”

Leave Peter Obi alone. If you must talk, sell your principal.

Tell us why PBAT deserves four more years.

Tell us about his health, vision, empathy, economic mastery.

Don’t tell us about Obi’s shoes or wife’s bags. We have heard it all, including AI photo-opts, and the venom from Engr. Dave Umahi inciting Ebonyians against Obi and questioning their Igbo identity.

Face the other 16 candidates. Or face Nigerians and tell them why after 11 years in power as a party, you deserve four more.

APC should not be that hunter who chases the cricket and returns home with an empty bag. When the people ask, “Where is the meat you promised?” You will answer, “We were busy chasing Peter Obi.”

As Achebe concluded: “One of the truest tests of integrity is its blunt refusal to be compromised.”

Peter Obi may be flawed, but his refusal to be compromised is why you cannot stop mentioning him.

Peter Obi is now the issue. And APC knows it.

Hence I come in PEACE.
