COURT STRAINS FOUR ENUGU COMMUNITY MEMBERS FROM HARASSING INTIMIDATING BULLYING, ARRESTING, MOLESTING CITIZENS

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Aguobu Owa, Ezeagu Local Government, Enugu State, has restrained Mr. Chidubem Ani, High Chief Christian Akpata, Mr. David Agu, and Mr. Chibuozo Onyeije, from “harassing, , threatening, bullying, arresting, intimidating and molesting” the plaintiffs/applicants and the good people of Akama Oghe.

The court also binded “the defendants/respondents to keep and maintain peace, be of good behaviour and maintain the status quo ante bellum pursuant to section 28 of magistrate court law of Enugu State, pending the determination of the suit as already filed.”

The court order is sequel to an application filed by Chief Edwin C. Umeh (Onowu/Interim Regent), Akama Oghe, Akama Oghe Town Union (Through its President General), Chief Gabriel Ezechi (Secretary, Igwe-in-Council), and seven other plaintiffs/applicants.

The plaintiffs/applicants had approached the court praying for an interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants/respondents their agents, servants, privies, cohorts, assigns and howsoever described from harassing, threatening, bullying, arresting, intimidating and molesting the good people of Akama Oghe, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

The plaintiffs/applications further sought for interlocutory injunction binding the defendants/respondents over to keep the peace, be good behaviour and maintain the status quo ante belum pursuit to section 28 of the magitrate court law of Enugu State pending the deterbation of the suit already filed.

The case was adjourned to October 21, 2026 for hearing.
