The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has heavily criticized former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, accusing him of mismanaging state funds and declaring that Amaechi will face stiff resistance if he attempts to campaign in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to media reports, Wike spoke to journalists in Abuja following a meeting with the chairmen of the FCT’s six area councils.
His verbal attack was prompted by comments attributed to Amaechi during a voter engagement event in Edo State.
Amaechi—who is currently the vice-presidential running mate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alongside presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar—had reportedly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, and described Tinubu’s voters and supporters as “thieves” or “mad people”
