PRESIDENCY CLAIMS TINUBU WILL DEFEAT ATIKU, OBI WITH WIDE MARGIN

The Presidency has predicted a wide victory for President Bola Tinubu over former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election.

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Policy Communications, said the margin by which Tinubu would defeat his challengers would be so large that Nigerians would find it difficult to believe.

Bwala made the prediction during an interview on Channels Television on Wednesday.

“All the governors of the North-East, let me tell you, and let me say it categorically, and I’ll be happy to come back. The margin of gap that President Bola Tinubu will give each and every one of these candidates will be so much that you won’t believe it,” Bwala said.Follow Politics

The interviewer then questioned whether Bwala had already written the result of the election.

Bwala rejected the suggestion, saying his assessment was based on what he described as data rather than speculation.

“No, I’m saying, you asked me to give data now, so this is data. You speak to conjecture; I speak to data,” he said.

The presidential aide pointed to the support Tinubu has received from governors, arguing that governors control political structures within their respective states and that their support could have an impact on the election.

“In fact, since then, President Bola Tinubu has got how many governors on his side? How many governors have joined him?” Bwala asked.

He added that governors were the chief executives of their states and coordinated the political structures within their respective jurisdictions.

“They won their own election to be governors. These people say, ‘We’re putting our goodwill, our resources, our structure and our support to the President,’” Bwala said.

According to him, the political support for Tinubu should also be considered alongside Nigerians who, in his view, had benefited from the administration’s policies.Follow Politics

“You multiply that by the number of people that have come to him, then you stretch it further by the people who are impacted positively by his policy,” he said.

“Then you look at how, before he became president, the naira—you couldn’t trade with the naira around the world, you can do it now,” he said.

“So these are facts, verifiable data, to suggest that President Bola Tinubu, from 2023 to now, has made marked progress,” he added.

“But in terms of the other candidate who said he will not win, Atiku Abubakar lost close to 25 percent of key people that you know around him,” he said.

“All the governors that worked for him that time are not going to be with him. I need you to know that, in case you don’t know,” Bwala added.

“Peter Obi lost 75 percent of the critical people that carried his campaign. They’ve all disappeared. And some of them went to Atiku, some of them went wherever they could go to,” he said.

“What they have is what we call ‘defeated attitude.’ How can in one place you say you’re winning the election, in another place you’re already threatening, ‘Nigeria will be…’ There will be no Nigeria, there will be all those things,” he said.

He added, “Even the talking points of their campaign will suggest to you that they’ve lost the victory. They’ve lost the election already.”

Bwala’s latest prediction comes shortly after he criticised ADC vice-presidential candidate Rotimi Amaechi over his comments linking his mother’s death to the economic policies of the Tinubu administration.Buy Maps

Bwala, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, accused Amaechi of bringing what he described as “fake news” and populist narratives into the political campaign.

“I haven’t worked in the Atiku camp before, and then seeing what Rotimi Amaechi is bringing to their camp, I think he’s bringing a bit of what they will call liveliness,” Bwala said.

“But he’s bringing a bit of fake news, a bit of populist narrative that doesn’t necessarily call for substance, you know, the detail,” he added.

Amaechi had said during an earlier appearance on the programme that the rising cost of medicines under Tinubu made it difficult for him to continue providing the drugs his mother needed.Follow Politics

He said, “The policies Tinubu introduced are killing people. I lost my mother because of the policies. We have lost people. President Tinubu’s policies killed my mother.”

“Before Tinubu became President, my mother was healthy. Suddenly, when Tinubu came, it became difficult to buy drugs for my mother. I did the best I could in taking care of my mother.”

His comments have since drawn criticism from Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who questioned the claim that the cost of medication was responsible for the death of Amaechi’s mother.

Wike also questioned why Amaechi did not seek financial assistance from people around him if he was struggling to afford his mother’s medication.
