The newly elected councillor representing Umuozzi Ward III in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, Hon. Kenneth Ugwu, has reportedly died barely days after emerging victorious in the September 26 local government election.

Ugwu contested the councillorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was declared the winner of the keenly contested poll.

His death has thrown his family, political associates and residents of Umuozzi Ward III into mourning.

Details surrounding the circumstances of his death were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report.

The Deputy Chairman of Igboeze North Local Government Area, Hon. Abah Joe in a facebook post on Monday announced the lawmaker-elect’s death and expressed sadness over the development.

“A Painful Loss to Umuozzi III and Igbo-Eze North.”

“With profound sadness, I mourn the passing of Hon. Kenneth Ugwu, Councilor-Elect for Umuozzi III, who passed away yesterday.”

“Hon. Kenneth was a promising public servant whose election reflected the confidence and trust placed in him by his people. Sadly, his life and aspirations were cut short just as he was preparing to serve his community.”

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, political associates and the entire Umuozzi III ward.”

“May God grant the family the strength to bear this irreparable loss and grant the soul of Hon. Kenneth Ugwu eternal rest.” it concluded.
