ENUGU NDC GUBER CANDIDATE, OHAA, WELCOMES ARREST OF SUSPECTS OVER ATTACK ON PARTY RALLY, DEMANDS FULL PROSECUTION

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in Enugu State, has welcomed the arrest of an Enugu traditional ruler, ex-lawmaker, and eight suspects in connection with suspected violent attack on party meeting in the State.

In a statement signed by the media office of the gubernatorial candidate of NDC in Enugu State, Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, the party commended the Inspector-General of Police for ordering the arrest of the suspects.

“The development is a positive step towards justice for our members who sustained gunshot injuries during the unprovoked attack.”

The party however demanded a thorough investigation of the case, and prosecution of all those involved.

“Those found culpable must face the full weight of the law”, it stated, adding that “the NDC remains a peaceful and a non-violent political party. We will never encourage or engage in violence”.

Reacting to the development, Sir Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, NDC gubernatorial candidate, said “I encourage all our supporters to remain firm and steadfast. Victory is certain.

“I also call on other political players to resist the urge to attack party candidates”

He further said that Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the NDC, is committed to move Nigeria from consumption to production.

“The same vision of production, competence, and prosperity is what I will ensure happens in Enugu State once elected as Governor.”*
