Tension and grief have enveloped the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Enugu State following the reported death of the party’s chairman in Udenu Local Government Area, Hon. Chisimdiri Emmanuel Ngwu, under suspicious circumstances.
Ngwu, said to be one of the longest-serving members of the ADC in the state, was reportedly found dead in the early hours of Wednesday, August 19, 2026, shortly after leaving his residence.
A family source, who spoke with our correspondent, said Ngwu woke up early that morning, walked out of the house and never returned alive.
“He woke up early in the morning on Wednesday and walked out, and that was the last we heard of him,” the source said.
The family reportedly became worried after noticing that Ngwu was missing, before later discovering his lifeless body in front of their compound.
“When we woke up, we didn’t see him, only to discover his lifeless body in front of our compound. We saw scratches on his neck, which was twisted backwards,” the source added.
The circumstances surrounding his death have raised concerns among his family, political associates and members of the ADC, with reports that two persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.
However, the identities of the suspects and the circumstances leading to their arrest were not immediately known as of the time of filing this report.
The spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, could not immediately confirm the incident, saying he was not aware of the development.
However, the immediate past chairman of the ADC in Enugu State, Mrs Stella Chukwuma, confirmed Ngwu’s death.
