TINUBU MADE CAMPAIGN PROMISES BASED ON ASSUMPTION – APC CHIEFTAIN FAROUK ALIYU

A heated exchange between Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni and APC chieftain Farouk Aliyu has gone viral, capturing the growing frustration over President Bola Tinubu’s unfulfilled election promises.

In the video, Farouk attempts to rationalize the gap between pre-election pledges and post-election performance. He states:

“Tinubu made election promises on certain assumptions. But getting into office, you are faced with the truth. When you are in opposition, there are certain promises you make, and by the time you get into office, you will see that certain promises cannot be fulfilled.”

Rufai Oseni, known for his sharp questioning style, presses back forcefully:

“So why did you deceive the masses with a promise when you’ve not done your study before making the promises?”

The APC chieftain’s response left many in
shock.

The moment has resonated widely, with many viewers interpreting it as a rare instance of accountability being demanded from the ruling party.

During the 2023 presidential campaign, Tinubu and the APC made bold pledges around economic revival, security, fuel subsidy removal (with palliatives), currency stability, and improved living standards. However, since assuming office in May 2023, Nigeria has faced:

Severe economic hardship followed the removal of fuel subsidies and the unification of exchange rates.

  • High inflation, naira depreciation, and rising cost of living.
  • Persistent security challenges despite promises of decisive action.
  • Widespread perception that “renewed hope” has not materialized for the average citizen.
