NDC DISMISSES FAKE PRIMARIES RESULTS IN ENUGU, SAYS AUTHENTIC LIST SECURED IN ABUJA

The National Leadership of the newly registered opposition party, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has cracked down on fake, conflicting lists of purported winners of its internal elections in Enugu State currently flooding various social media platforms and blogs.

The party explicitly labeled the online publications as unauthorized political gossip orchestrated by mischief-makers to cause confusion among supporters and political stakeholders ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing journalists in Enugu on Saturday, May 30, 2026, the National Secretary of the NDC, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, confirmed that while the primary elections across the state were successfully and peacefully executed on Friday, May 29, 2026, no official result has been declared to the public.

According to the NDC leadership, the internal electoral process utilized a strict direct primary model across the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State, allowing every card-carrying member of the party to vote for their choice candidates.

The exercise covered all crucial elective positions, including the selection of delegates and candidates for the Presidency, Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and the State House of Assembly.

Morgan revealed that to prevent internal manipulation, a high-powered National Electoral Committee travelled directly from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja to supervise the state congresses, alongside independent monitors from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The Nigeria Democratic Congress successfully conducted its primary elections in Enugu State on Friday, May 29, 2026,” Morgan stated.

“The entire process was monitored closely by our National Electoral Committee and observed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission. The exercise was orderly, transparent, and conducted in strict line with the Electoral Act and the constitution of our great party.

“It was a direct primaries model where every single eligible member of the party voted for their preferred choice candidate. The power was handed entirely back to the grassroots,” he added.

The NDC Scribe noted that while the collation, counting, and preliminary verification stages have been completed, the raw data and official results have been securely moved to the custody of the appropriate national party authorities in Abuja.

He warned aspirants who have been using proxy internet handles to declare themselves winners to back down, stating that only recognized constitutional channels can validate any outcome.

“The results of the primary elections have been duly collected by the party,” the National Secretary added. “However, contrary to several fake reports being aggressively circulated online, no official announcement has yet been made by the National Electoral Committee or the national leadership of the party. Any individual or platform claiming to possess or announce official results is acting completely without authorization.”

The party warned its supporters to maintain absolute patience while internal administrative cross-checks and ratification processes are concluded by the selection panels.
