
Speaker of the Borno House State of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan, has been returned as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Guzamala state constituency.
Lawan, who has been identified as the longest-serving speaker in Nigeria’s history was the sole aspirant in the primary.
If elected into the eleventh Borno State Assembly and retains his position as Speaker, he will be leading the 28-member House for the fifth time.
In Lagos, Barrister Barakat Odunuga-Bakare on Wednesday recorded a sweeping victory over incumbent lawmaker Desmond Elliot in the primaries for Surulere Constituency I of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Odunuga-Bakare secured a total of 11,385 votes to defeat Elliot, who polled 270 votes across the wards in the constituency bringing an end to third ’s bid in office.
The primaries witnessed a massive turnout of APC members.
Breakdown of the results from the various wards showed overwhelming support for Odunuga-Bakare.
In Kaduna, Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Dahiru Liman, the Deputy Speaker, Barr. Magaji Henry Danjuma, and the Majority Leader, Munira Suleiman Tanimu, have emerged as candidates for their respective constituencies through affirmation.
Dahiru was unanimously affirmed as the APC candidate for Makera State Constituency during the party’s primary exercise attended by party leaders, electoral officials and supporters.
Similarly, the Deputy Speaker, Barr. Magaji Henry Danjuma, emerged as the APC candidate for Kagarko State Constituency after party members across the wards affirmed his candidature in an unopposed exercise.
Majority Leader of the House, Munira Suleiman Tanimu, secured the APC ticket for Lere East Constituency after a peaceful affirmation exercise conducted across the constituency’s six wards.
Several APC aspirants for Kaduna State House of Assembly seats voluntarily withdrew from the race and endorsed the party’s consensus candidates.
In Delta State, daughter of former Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, Orode Uduaghan, has emerged as the APC candidate for the Warri North Constituency Seat in the Delta State House of Assembly.
Uduaghan, a former Commissioner for Girl Child and Humanitarian Affairs, in the State emerged yesterday through consensus arrangement in the APC primary for the Local Government.
In Benue, the immediate past Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly and member representing Gboko West Constituency, Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh, defected from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His resignation comes barely a day after he withdrew from from participating in the APC primary election for his reelection.
In Katsina, following the completion of the consensus arrangements for State House of Assembly aspirants in Katsina State, 34 aspirants were affirmed as the party’s candidates.
Chairman of Charanchi Local Government Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sani Koda, who emerged as the consensus candidate to contest the State House of Assembly seat representing Charanchi Local Government Area, Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, congratulated all 34 successful consensus candidates.
