Amid growing resistance, the APC is battling internal tensions across several states as disagreements deepen over the party’s adoption of consensus arrangements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While states such as Katsina, Borno and Jigawa embraced consensus as a strategy to reduce internal conflict, others including Ogun, Yobe, Oyo, Kano, Ondo and Gombe witnessed strong opposition from aspirants demanding direct primaries.
In Katsina, Governor Dikko Radda defended the arrangement, saying stakeholders agreed on a consensus to preserve party cohesion ahead of the polls.
