Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Okoi Obono-Obla, has expressed dissatisfaction following the party’s national convention.

Obono-Obla, in a statement titled ‘Reflections on My Party Journey’, issued in Calabar on Sunday, said his faith in the APC is badly shaken.

Obono-Obla said he had publicly declared his interest in vying for the office of National Secretary of the APC, but was told that the previous zoning arrangement remains in place, and as a result, the incumbent was returned.

The former chairman of the Special Presidential Panel on the Recovery of Public Property under Ex-President Muhammadu Buhari stated that some individuals who recently defected to the party are working to push out foundation members.

He stated that the situation calls for deep reflection, as his commitment, however, remains unquestionable, but the path ahead must be chosen with clarity and courage.

Obono-Obla further affirmed his resolve to stand firm in his personal principles and reflect on his next move.

He said, “My faith in the Party to which I have given my all since 2013 is now badly shaken, more than ever before.

“In 2022, the Party denied me the opportunity to contest as a Senatorial Candidate, but I did not mind. I continued to work tirelessly for its success at both the National and State Elections in 2023.

“Day after day, I dedicated myself to promoting, propagating, and defending the Party and its government across social, traditional, and new media. Yet, as I reflect and ponder my next move, it seems that some individuals who only recently joined the Party are working hard to push out foundation members, sadly, with the support of the leadership.”
