Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), on Sunday hosted prominent opposition figures at his residence in Kano as part of Sallah celebrations.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, now aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC); Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); and former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Kwankwaso shared photos from the gathering on his verified X account, describing the meeting as a joyful Sallah celebration.

“Delighted to host Their Excellencies, Peter Obi, Seyi Makinde, and Seriake Dickson at my Kano residence for this joyful Sallah celebration. Wishing everyone peace, blessings, and prosperity,” he wrote.

The high-profile meeting comes amid growing speculation over a possible opposition realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso had earlier met privately with Governor Makinde in Ibadan in February 2026, a move that further fuelled discussions about potential alliances aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Touché. In a 3-horse race presidential election, where will Tinubu’s votes come from? Contrary to what his water carriers will have you believe, Tinubu does not still have the South on lockdown. That’s Obi’s turf. He has made some in-roads in the middlebelt but that can easily shift if he repeats his muslim-muslim ticket. Plus, the middlebelt will ALWAYS be divided, just like the Southwest. Where will his votes come from? From the governors who defected under duress, inducements and engineered crisis?
