The Igbo community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has dismissed claims by the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma that the All Progressives Congress, APC, is gaining strength in the South East.

It said such claims were gross exaggeration.

According to Engr Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, President of the Igbo Community Association, FCT, “President Tinubu has not done enough to deserve such an Uzodimma-engineered endorsement.”

He said the Igbo still feel marginalized and excluded from the country’s economic and political mainstream.

Uzodimma had rallied South East APC stakeholders behind Tinubu’s re-election, citing the need for the region to reposition itself within Nigeria’s political landscape. However, the Igbo community sees this as a desperate attempt to clove support for Tinubu.

But reacting through a statement on Sunday, Ellis-Ezenekwe said: “Igbos are not part of this endorsement. This is a sham, a publicity stunt by Uzodimma to boost his own political career.”

The Igbo community called on other Nigerians to reject Tinubu’s re-election bid, alleging that the President had poor track record and lacked commitment towards addressing the country’s pressing issues.

The group went further to say: “APC is not popular in Igboland. It’s only Uzodimma and a few others who are trying to force it down our throats.”

The community also questioned Uzodimma’s assertion that Tinubu’s reforms are yielding results, saying the opposite is the case.

“The economy is in shambles, insecurity is rampant, and our children are suffering,” said Ellis-Ezenekwe, adding: “What reforms is he talking about?”

The Igbo community called on the APC and Tinubu’s administration to be accountable to the people and address the pressing issues affecting the country.

“We want to see action, not just words.

“This is not just about Igbo; it’s about Nigeria’s future,” said Ellis-Ezenekwe.
