Aminu Tambuwal, senator representing Sokoto south, will mark his 60th birthday with a colloquium.
The colloquium, which will hold on Saturday, January 10 in Abuja, the nation’s capital, is themed: ‘The Future of Democracy in Nigeria’.
The event will be chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, with ex-President Goodluck Jonathan as the special guest of honour.
Attahiru Jega, ex-chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will deliver the keynote address titled, ‘The Future of Democratic Governance in Nigeria: Pathways to National Cohesion, Human Security and Economic Renewal’.
Pat Utomi, professor of political economy, Usman Bugaje and Nnena Ukeje, former members of the house of representatives, will discuss Jega’s paper during a panel session.
Speaking with TheCable, Tambuwal, a former speaker of the house of representatives and ex-governor of Sokoto, said the event provides an opportunity to reflect on his life in public service.
“This milestone has provided a moment of reflection — on life’s journey, on the privilege of service, and on the remarkable individuals whose engagement has shaped my path,” Tambuwal said.
