There has been brewing tension between the Governor of Rivers State, Sim Fubara and erstwhile godfather & FCT Minister, Ezenwo Wike. In between the tension and thank you visit by the former Governor is the President- General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, John Azuka Mbata.
Mbata is a former Rivers East Senator credited for bringing the FCT Minister into politics in 1998. Mbata was Speaker pro tempore during the impeachment of Chuba Okadigbo in August 2000.
Wike threw the first salvo in Gokana LGA; insisting that agreement is agreement.
As we sit here now, there is only one Governor in Rivers State, whether you like it or you don’t like it. If you like shout from today till tomorrow

Yesterday, I was watching television and I saw a former Senator who was supposed to be talking about state politics and national politics but he is playing community politics, endorsing someone in his community which is not even a ward. Senator for eight years but nothing you can say you did for your people.
So, you know when my predecessor was in office, people so much believed in contract. The person was there with Victor (Giadom) them, immediately my predecessor left, I came, the person was also there. Now, I have left, he is also there. Any Government in Power he is there…people no longer have integrity. Nobody can think that you will use us, after agreeing on something you renege and you think you are a smart politician, you are clever by half.

One of the signs of very poor education and upbringing is that you can’t even pronounce simple words what is the meaning of integrity, integrity, integrity what does that mean can somebody tell this semi-illiterate, swashbuckle, crisis-loving gentleman, you know, that this Rivers State belongs to all of us not him alone and that we will resist you, you won’t get away with all this nonsense you are doing, you think because nobody is talking to you a very very big fool and idiot. You have forgotten the days you used to wash my car and I used to feed you and pay your school fees, you think you can talk to me anyhow, you are just an idiot”.

When you tell people the truth, they become angry. The truth is the truth. If you like abuse me anyhow you want to abuse me, it will not change. I say we have taken a decision in this state and nothing will happen other than what we have said.
It’s not about money. Yes, we need money but we cannot all sell our conscience, we will do the right thing. It’s not every Government that comes into power, you are there. You have never found anything wrong in every Government.
Someone sent me a video where a former Senator was ranting, calling me a semi-illiterate. “Semi” at least I have tried, not that I am a full illiterate. He said I’m semi-illiterate, that I used to wash his car. The same person who used to do that is a two-time Governor, council chairman, and FCT minister, which he cannot be. We have made a decision in this state, and nothing will happen other than what we have said.”
