Nigeria political commentator, Adeniyi Waziri, has called for the immediate arrest of Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, accusing him of deceiving Nigerians over an alleged fake tax reform law.
In a post on X, Waziri claimed that the version of the tax reform law being promoted was not approved by the National Assembly (NASS), alleging that Nigerians are being misled about its legality.
Waziri further alleged that the tax reform process was rushed and opaque, accusing government officials of engaging foreign partners, particularly in France, whom he described as “enablers and accomplices.”

He claimed the actions amounted to a coordinated attempt to impose reforms without proper legislative backing, insisting that Nigerians’ hard-earned money was at risk despite the reforms not yet taking effect.
The tax reform laws, signed under the Bola Tinubu administration, are expected to come into force in January, with officials maintaining that no Nigerian has been charged under the new framework yet.
However, Waziri’s comments reflect growing public skepticism and online debate over the reforms,.
Many Nigerians continue to demand transparency and clarity on the approval process ahead of their planned implementation.
