WHY POWER SUPPLY DROPPED IN SOUTH EAST – EEDC

OIP 94

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, has attributed the recent drop in power supply across the South-East to low system frequency caused by gas constraints affecting power generation companies.

EEDC said the situation has forced the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, to implement load shedding of available energy.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Group Head, Corporate Communications, EEDC, Emeka Ezeh.

According to the company, the development has reduced energy allocation to EEDC, thereby affecting daily electricity supply to customers served by its subsidiary companies, including MainPower, TransPower, FirstPower, NewEra and EastLand.

EEDC noted that relevant stakeholders in the electricity supply industry are working to resolve the challenge and restore normal power distribution.

The company apologised to customers for the inconvenience and appealed for patience and understanding.
