Former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El‑Rufai, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring his commitment to a coalition strategy aimed at unseating Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
El-Rufai made the declaration while formally registering as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), signaling the consolidation of a coalition strategy ahead of the next general elections.
El‑Rufai revealed that he and former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had initially requested that the ADC coalition allow them to remain in their respective parties ‘the SDP and the Labour Party’ until the conclusion of pending by-elections. With those elections now concluded, he said there was no reason to remain in the former parties.
“I’m happy to announce that as of last week, all these elections have been concluded. For that reason, we have no reason any longer to remain in the SDP or the Labour Party.
By the grace of God, along with other partners, we are going to repeat what we did in 2015 when we got rid of the incompetent, thieving, corrupt PDP administration,” El‑Rufai said during his formal registration with the ADC.
Addressing senior party officials at the event, including ADC National Vice Chairman Northwest, Hon. Jafaru Sani, and Membership Secretary Senator Sadik Erada, El‑Rufai expressed gratitude for their support in facilitating his registration.
He also highlighted that the ADC welcomed the coalition leadership, unlike the SDP, which he said had been unwilling to accommodate it.
El‑Rufai urged Kaduna residents to join the ADC, register for their permanent voters’ cards, and prepare to vote out the current state and national administration.
He criticized the present leadership in Kaduna, describing them as “people with no name, no address, no surname to protect, who believe the purpose of government is to steal and divert public funds.”
He concluded by calling on citizens to engage actively with the ADC platform in preparation for the 2027 elections.
