TINUBU HALTS TRIPS TO SOUTH AFRICA, ANGOLA OVER KEBBI, KWARA ATTACKS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has postponed his planned trips to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Luanda, Angola, as he awaits detailed security briefings on the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the attack on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, Eruku, in Kwara State, Very Nigerian reports.

According to a statement shared by his aide, Dada Olusegun, the President ordered an immediate deployment of additional security personnel to Eruku and the entire Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

He also directed the police to track down the bandits responsible for the attack on worshippers.

Tinubu had been scheduled to depart Abuja today for the 20th G20 Leaders’ Summit in South Africa, before proceeding to Angola for the 7th AU–EU Summit. However, the recent security breaches prompted him to suspend his departure.

The President is now awaiting reports from Vice President Kashim Shettima, who visited Kebbi on his behalf, as well as briefings from the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services regarding the attack in Kwara.

Tinubu reaffirmed his directive to security agencies to prioritise the rescue of the 24 abducted schoolgirls and ensure their safe return home.
