WHY TINUBU IS SUDDENLY INTERESTED IN EKWEREMADU’S RELEASE  – MAHDI SHEHU

OIP 92 1

Suddenly Tinubu woke up from his diplomatic slumber and remembered that he needs to bring out Senator Ekweremadu from the UK prison where he has been, since his  conviction in 2023.

He  assembled “A high powered”  committee to travel and engage The UK government. This is in spite of the absence of a substantive Ambassador who would have done better seamlessly.

The UK  Justice is nearly water tight with no  provision that gives criminals  willful and reckless reprieve.

The opportunity to resolve the Ekweremadu issue was lost long long long ago.

The only available window is to explore the option of prisoner transfer if Nigeria has such an executed treaty.

My take is that Tinubu is using the jamboree trip to show he cares and is concerned because election is approaching  and Ekweremadu is the only  visible Ndi-  igbo  that is not on  ” THE TRAIN”  From Bombay to Goa. And with him on board Ndi- igbo will be finally captured.

Other Nigerians convicted or detained at various prisons all over the world will never receive the Ekweremadu attention because even if they are  released they will be of no political value to Tinubu. Such is the visible miscalculation.

Well,  at least the high “Powered committee”  has an opportunity to get huge DTA, stay in high profile hotels, connect with “LOCAL FRIENDS” , go for shopping etc and return empty handed.
