SHEPHERD OF CONVENIENCE: NETIZEN SLAMS PASTOR ADEBOYE’S SILENCE UNDER TINUBU GOVT

A social media user has criticized Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), for maintaining silence amid rising reports of persecution and killings of Christians in northern Nigeria.

The critic, identified as @TheAjakeManger on X (formerly Twitter), accused the respected cleric of avoiding public comment to protect his relationship with Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he described as Adeboye’s “benefactor.”

“Now it’s time to speak up for Christians in the North, Adeboye is awfully quiet; because he does not want to offend his benefactor, Tinubu. Shepherd of convenience,” he wrote.

The post, which has since generated thousands of views and reactions, was made in response to a resurfaced 2015 tweet from Pastor Adeboye that read:

“You are not a tested Christian until you have lived in the North of Nigeria.”

The comment sparked widespread backlash, with many users accusing Adeboye and other prominent religious figures of staying silent in the face of worsening attacks on Christian communities under Tinubu’s administration.

One user @AquarianKing73 commented “ He has lost his voice after drinking tea with his god”

Another user @Nedusteve1 added “His voice is no longer needed, he allowed them to stain his white”.

Now it’s time to speak up for Christians in the North, Adeboye is awfully quiet; Because he does not want to offend his benefactor, Tinubu.
