The Deeper Life Bible Church has debunked a viral report quoting its founder, Pastor William F. Kumuyi, as commenting on the recent diplomatic tensions between Nigeria and the United States.

An online platform had claimed that Kumuyi dismissed reports of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria and accused America of trying to “steal the country’s natural resources,” in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to “invade Nigeria guns-a-blazing” if the government fails to address the alleged persecution of Christians.

But the church, in an official statement released on Sunday via the church’s X handle, described the reports as “false and inaccurate.”

“Any recent news reports or public statements being attributed to Pastor W.F. Kumuyi are false and inaccurate,” the statement said. “Pastor Kumuyi is fully engaged with the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (The GCKHQ), which has recently held events in Fiji, the Solomon Islands, and Pakistan. He has not granted any recent press interviews or made public statements on other matters.”

The clarification follows a wave of misleading online reports linking prominent Nigerian religious figures to the ongoing diplomatic row sparked by President Trump’s controversial remarks on alleged attacks against Christians in Nigeria.
