United States Senator Ted Cruz has called for urgent international action to stop what he described as the “mass murder of Christians in Nigeria.”
Reacting to Australian journalist Erin Molan’s interview with Nigerian preacher and eyewitness, Musa B. Musa, Senator Cruz took to X (formerly Twitter) to condemn the continued violence against Christians in the country.
His statement followed Molan’s viral post, where she accused global human rights organizations and activists of ignoring what she termed an “actual genocide” in Nigeria.
“Hey all you pretend human rights organisations and protestors — there is an ACTUAL genocide in Nigeria,” Molan said in her post accompanying a one-minute video clip of her interview with Musa B. Musa, who claimed to have witnessed widespread killings of Christians.
The video, which has since garnered over 317,000 views, features Musa recounting his experiences and urging the global community to pay attention to the plight of Christians in Nigeria.
Cruz’s reaction adds to growing international concern over reports of religiously motivated violence in several parts of Nigeria, particularly in the Middle Belt and northern regions.
Observers say the senator’s comment may further pressure the U.S. government and international bodies to reassess their approach to Nigeria’s human rights and security situation.
