An old interview featuring Nigerian politician and billionaire businessman, Senator Ned Nwoko, has resurfaced online amid the ongoing marital crisis between him and Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, shedding new light on the foundation of their union.
In the viral footage recorded in 2024 by Seun Okinbaloye, Nwoko openly confessed that he did not marry Regina Daniels out of love but did so under intense pressure from his family, who insisted he take a wife from his hometown.
“For her particularly, I married her because she is from my place. I was under pressure from my family,” Nwoko stated, adding that he never believed in dating before marriage and often married his wives within weeks of meeting them.
This revelation comes just 48 hours after explosive allegations surfaced online, with Regina accusing the senator of physical abuse, while Ned Nwoko claimed she struggled with drug addiction and damaged property under influence — allegations she has yet to respond to.
In a previously granted BBC interview, Nwoko explained that he met Regina for the first time when she visited his residence with her mother and siblings
According to him, he had no prior knowledge of her acting career and did not court her before proposing.
“We married within three weeks. I don’t believe in dating anybody to marry them. When you marry them, you need to fall in love from within the marriage,” he said at the time.
