House of Representatives member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency of Abia State, Obi Aguocha, has accused President Bola Tinubu of applying different standards of justice to the Igbo ethnic group compared to other regions of the country.

Aguocha made this known during an interview on Arise Television News.

He spoke against the backdrop of the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and the recent presidential pardon.

The lawmaker alleged that in the administration of criminal justice in Nigeria, an Igbo man faces a host of challenges that other tribes do not experience.

According to Aguocha, Tinubu granted clemency to individuals convicted of serious crimes such as drug trafficking and murder, while Kanu, who, according to him, has not committed any offence, continues to languish in detention.

He further called on all the Igbos to raise their voices, even if it means doing so through peaceful protests.

He said, “I firmly believe that we must all raise our voices, even if it means doing so through peaceful protests.

“In the administration of criminal justice in Nigeria, an Igbo man faces a host of challenges that other tribes do not experience.

“In a recent series of pardons, President Tinubu granted clemency to ‘drug lords’ and ‘murderers,’ yet Nnamdi Kanu, who has committed no offence, has endured extensive dehumanisation for ten years.”
