Celebrated singer, Davido, said he married his wife, Chioma, because he wanted to have an Igbo male child.
“I married Chioma because I wanted an Igbo male child who will carry my legacy after I am gone. I have always desired to have Igbo children, because the Igbo people are the true Black race of the world, and having a child from such a tribe is a blessing,” Davido said.
When asked why he did not choose to marry from his own Yoruba tribe, Davido explained:
“Yorubas are great people, no doubt, but they are not as hardworking and resilient as the Igbos. I don’t need children who will use what I have built just to party or lavish it away at endless owambe. I needed the Igbo bloodline for a strong reason. My success today is because I carry a trace of Igbo blood within me.”
The singer went further to hail the Igbos:
“The Igbos are unstoppable. Wherever they go, they build, they create, they prosper. You can’t keep an Igbo man down—he will always rise. They are the heartbeat of Nigeria’s economy, the engine of progress, and the pride of Africa. To marry Chioma and connect deeper with this great tribe is one of the best decisions of my life.
The above testament of Davido makes me blush as an Igboman and encourages me to see the actions of our other ethnic groups against the Igbos as only fear of domination.
