President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted the resignation of Geoffrey Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, following recent allegations against him, News360 Nigeria reports.
Nnaji, who joined the federal cabinet in August 2023, tendered his resignation in a letter on Tuesday, expressing gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve.
In his letter, the former minister stated that his decision to step down was influenced by what he described as a “campaign of blackmail” orchestrated by political opponents. He, however, thanked President Tinubu for the confidence and trust reposed in him throughout his tenure.
Reacting to the development, President Tinubu appreciated Nnaji for his service to the nation and wished him well in his future endeavours.
The announcement was contained in a statement released on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
