The Senate will on 7th October, 2025, decide if the suspended lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, will resume her official duties or not.

Kenny Okolugbo, Consultant, Communication and Strategy, Office of the Senate President, disclosed this in an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday.

Recall that Natasha, the senator representing Kogi Central, was on March 6, 2025, suspended for six months over alleged violation of Senate rules.

Her suspension followed her dispute with Senate President Godswill Akpabio who she accused of sexual harassment, a claim the latter has denied.

Upon the completion of the six months suspension, the lawmaker’s office was unsealed on Tuesday.

However, it was unclear if the lawmaker has been allowed to resume her official legislative duties despite pending court cases.

Asked if Natasha has only gotten access to her office but hasn’t resumed her official duties, Okolugbo simply said “every other decision will be taken by the senators when they resume on the 7th of October”.

Okolugbo lauded the leadership of the upper legislative chamber for unsealing Natasha’s office, stressing that it is her “right to go to her office”, since the suspension has elapsed.

“She has gained access into her office, she has every right to go to her office since her six months suspension has elapsed.

“Even though the case is still at the court of Appeal, the leadership of the Senate took a wise decision,” he added.

The Senate is currently on recess and is expected to resume plenary on October 7, 2025.
