Residents of Upper Meniru in Idaw River area of Enugu South local government, have cried over the poor state of roads in their area, and appealed to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to urgently come to their rescue.
Speaking to journalists at the end of their monthly meeting on Monday, the residents lamented that they could no longer access their individual homes due to very bad roads in the area, caused by gully erosion
While commending Governor Peter Mbah for his untiring efforts in developing Enugu State, the residents however stated that they were yet to witness any government presence in their area in terms of infrastructural development.
“We are left out in Governor Mbah’s giant developmental strides. We are yet to witness any government presence in our area. All our roads are bad. We no longer drive homes with our vehicles. Even the ubiquitous Keke NAPEP operators have refused plying our roads because they complain of damages done to their tricycles as a result of bad roads”, they lamented.
The people further complained that neither the councillor representing the area, nor Enugu South local government chairman ever visited them to carry out palliatives on their roads. “They only come to us each time election is around the corner. After that you will not see them again”, they bemoaned
While pledging their continued loyalty and support to Enugu State government ably led by Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the Upper Meniru residents appealed to the governor to kindy visit the area and see what they have been suffering, with a view to ameriorating it.
