Tragedy struck in Ghana’s Ashanti region on Wednesday when a military helicopter crashed and claimed the lives of eight people, including two ministers.

The Ghana Armed Forces confirmed that the Z-9 military helicopter, which was en route from Accra to the gold-mining town of Obuasi, lost contact before crashing.

Rescue teams were dispatched to the crash site shortly after the helicopter was declared missing.
