MEET GOODLUCK JONATHAN’S ALLEGED SECOND WIFE
In Nigerian political history, few leaders have maintained as much intrigue post-tenure as former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
His quiet demeanour and rare public appearances since leaving office in 2015 have kept many Nigerians curious about the man.
Now, nearly a decade later, a new name has emerged in the public sphere, Dr. Ayima Lott-Jonathan, allegedly Jonathan’s second wife and the mother of his five children.
Her recent academic feat thrust her and the former president’s private life into the spotlight.
Patience Jonathan was far from the conventional first lady. She was known for her infamous gaffes in Nigerian Pidgin English, often trending online for her emotional speeches, and this made her a household name. But as it turns out, the First Lady was not the only woman who carried the last name Jonathan.
In July 2025, social media lit up with congratulatory messages for Dr. Ayima Lott-Jonathan after she earned a PhD in Education from Welden University in the United States. But why was her name suddenly being tied to the former president?
According to a viral revelation by legal practitioner Emeka Ugwuonye, Dr. Ayima is allegedly the second wife of Goodluck Jonathan and the biological mother of his five children, including a set of twin boys.
Ugwuonye claimed that Ayima was introduced into the family through a discreet agreement between Jonathan and his wife, Patience, due to her reported inability to conceive.
Allegedly, to maintain public decorum and political image, Ayima was kept away from the limelight under an arrangement that she would not attend official functions or make public appearances with Jonathan… well, until now.
Who Is Dr. Ayima Lott-Jonathan?
Ayima Lott-Jonathan is a lawyer, educator, and entrepreneur. She holds a law degree from Rivers State University of Science and Technology and is said to be the daughter of Chief F.D. Lott, a renowned legal luminary and former Attorney General of Bayelsa State. She herself has served as Attorney General of Bayelsa State at some point.
She is also the founder and proprietress of Aduvie International School in Maitama, Abuja, one of the top-tier primary and secondary schools in the capital. The school was established in 2008 and is known for its world-class facilities, Montessori-based teaching approach, and commitment to academic excellence.
More intriguing is her family connection to Diezani Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s first female Minister of Petroleum. Diezani, who served under Jonathan’s administration, is allegedly Ayima’s older sister. Diezani’s tenure, though groundbreaking for women, ended in controversy over massive financial misappropriations.
Despite being part of the Jonathan family for years, Ayima remained hidden from public view until her graduation video surfaced online. The footage, featuring a visibly supportive Goodluck Jonathan, caught many off guard. Reports claim that she has lived in Abuja with her children, choosing a quiet and private lifestyle.
If the reports are accurate, former President Goodluck Jonathan may have quietly maintained two families under a discreet and well-managed arrangement. On one side is Dame Patience Jonathan, the publicly recognised First Lady, who is said to have adopted two children during their marriage due to reported fertility challenges. On the other is Dr. Ayima Lott-Jonathan, alleged to be the mother of his five biological children.
