As retired police officers plan nationwide protest for Monday, July 21, the ,Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, on Sunday said it is an attempt to discredit the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.
The chairman of the Nigerian Union of Retired Police Officers, Mannir M. Lawal had in an interview, said that members of the union would protest in Abuja on Monday, July 21.
However, PCRC National Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Olaniyan in a statement on Sunday, claimed that the proposed protest, a campaign for the rights of retired police personnel, was ill-timed, stressing that it aimed at undermining the achievements of the IGP.
“It is a calculated attempt to distract and discredit the commendable progress being made by the I-G and by extension, the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
“The PCRC holds in high regard, the integrity, discipline, and patriotism of our retired police officers.
