FCTA WORKERS BARRICADE OFFICE, DEMAND WIKE’S REMOVAL OVER UNPAID WAGES, POOR CONDITIONS

Staff members of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in Abuja have barricaded the entrance of the FCTA Complex, demanding the removal of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, over alleged neglect of their welfare.

The workers, drawn from various departments, stated that they could no longer endure the hardships caused by unpaid wages, delayed promotions, and poor working conditions.

They also alleged deteriorating conditions under Wike’s leadership, leaving them with no option but to shut down operations.

A video shared by News Central TV shows that the protest began early Monday morning, with staff carrying placards and chanting songs to demand their rights.

“Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) staff in Abuja have barricaded the entrance of the FCTA Complex in Abuja, protesting unpaid wages, delayed promotions, and poor work conditions,” the report said.

“They are also demanding the removal of the FCT Minister, alleging worsened worker welfare.

“They are protesting several grievances including the non-payment of wage award arrears delays in promotion and training and a lack of essential work materials.”
