ANTI-TINUBU COALITION MAY HAVE SETTLED FOR ADC

The coalition among some top politicians against President Bola Tinubu’s reelection have settled for African Democratic Congress, ADC, as their political party.

According to report by the Punch, former Senate President, David Mark, would serve as the Interim National Chairman of the party.

Another revelation is that the anti-Tinubu group, which includes: former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Governors Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna) and Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers) tried to have either Senator Ben Obi and former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola as the party’s Secretary but both declined.

Aregbesola used to be a protégé of the President but currently relations between them is strained.

The former is now part of the anti-Tinubu group.

According to the cited report, Aregbesola disappointed his colleagues in the battle against Tinubu’s reelection as he refused to accept offer made to him to be the Interim National Secretary of ADC.

“We would have also resolved the issue of the National Secretary, but Aregbesola turned it down. He cited age and mentioned that his wife advised him to slow down. Senator Ben Obi also declined the offer. So, we will settle that later.

“We had planned to unveil the party already, but Labour Party’s Peter Obi said he wanted to consult with his supporters, including a governor and some lawmakers. Hopefully, we will make the official announcement this week. And we will all leave our political platforms for the ADC,” Punchng quoted an unnamed member of the coalition as saying.
