NYSC BEGINS PAYMENT OF ALLOWANCE ARREARS To CORPS MEMBERS

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commenced the payment of arrears to eligible corps members across the country, News360 Nigeria reports.

This follows an earlier assurance by the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, who had promised that corps members would not be excluded from the ₦77,000 monthly allowance recently approved by the Federal Government.

Brigadier General Nafiu made the assurance in April 2025 during the Batch A 2025 Pre-Mobilisation Workshop held in Abuja for heads of corps-producing institutions and other key stakeholders.

At the event, the NYSC boss stated, “Once funds are released to us to offset the arrears, we will pay them. Even our corps members who passed out recently will benefit. Once we receive cash backing for the arrears, we are going to credit them; we have their bank details. Nigerians should not worry about that because the government is both responsible and responsive to their needs.”

True to that promise, corps members have now begun receiving payments of the owed arrears, marking a relief for many who had eagerly awaited the funds since the increment in their monthly allowance was announced.
