CONFUSION AS NATIONAL SECRETARY, NATIONAL PUBLICITY SECRETARY ISSUE CONFLICTING NOTICES ON HOLDING OF PDP NEC MEETING
The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has continued to escalate as Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the party’s national secretary, and Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the national Publicty Secretary, issued two different notices on holding of the NEC meeting of PDP.
While Samuel Anyanwu issued a statement announcing the postponement of the NEC meeting originally scheduled for May 27, in order to give room for Saraki peace panel to conclude its assignment, Ologunagba insisted that the NEC would still hold on that day.
According to Senator Anyanwu, “This is to formally inform leaders and members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great party that the proposed NEC meeting earlier announced to take place on May 27, 2025, has been postponed.
“The postponement is to allow the Sen. Bukola Saraki’s Reconciliation Committee to complete its assignment of resolving some internal conflicts necessary to have a peaceful NEC meeting.
“Accordingly, a new date will be formally announced in accordance with the PDP Constitution 2017 as amended and the Electoral Act, 2022.
“Therefore, any notice of NEC meeting or publication signed by the Deputy National Secretary in the guise of Acting National Secretary is illegal, unauthorized, and should be disregarded.
“All inconveniences resulting from this change of date are regretted. Please accept the assurances of my esteemed regards.”
Hon Ologunagba on the other hand came up with a “reminder” asking “all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the general public may recall the 600th meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) held on Tuesday, 29th April, 2025 wherein the NWC resolved to hold the 99th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Tuesday, 27th May, 2025, and the Acting National Chairman, H.E. Amb. Iliya Damagum’s Media address on the same Tuesday, 29th April, 2025 on the summoning of NEC.
Distinguished members of NEC are hereby reminded of the scheduled 99th NEC meeting as earlier summoned to hold as follows:

ALL CONSTITUTIONALLY ACCREDITED NEC MEMBERS ARE ADVISED TO PLEASE ATTEND PUNCTUALLY
These conflicting statements came as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, withdrew from all agreements with the party leadership meant to end the crisis.
Wike, who claimed to have been fighting for PDP’s survival since 1998, accused some party leaders of flaming the crisis, hence his decision to withdraw from all agreements.
