EXPLOSION ROCKS VENUE OF NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL

There was a gas explosion at the Alake Sports Complex in Ijeja, Abeokuta, one of the main venues for the 2024 National Sports Festival.

The blast happened when a gas truck supplying fuel to the venue’s generator suddenly caught fire sending athletes and spectators running for safety.

It is learnt that emergency workers arrived quickly and managed to bring the fire under control.

Sports activities at the venue, including handball, squash, and badminton, have now resumed.
